Membership for the skating year July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019 has been activated on EntryEeze

In order to join our figure skating club as a "new member," as opposed to someone who has been a member prior to 2005, you must live in our skating "region," which would be any of the following states:  Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, or Alaska.  Please click here to read our "Out of Region Policy."

The U.S. Figure Skating and Spokane FSC membership year runs from July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019.  Unfortunately, we are not allowed to pro-rate memberships.

Why Should I Join a Figure Skating Club?

Do you like to skate?  Have you thought about competing?  Do you want to challenge yourself by working towards a goal and then taking a test?  Would you like to become an ice skating judge or other official?

We have members who skate for recreational purposes (great exercise for all ages) or who have a dream of maybe some day being good enough to skate on television or perform in an ice show, traveling all over the world.

It's fun to be part of a group -- doing something you all enjoy.  Lifelong friendships are made.  Parents get excited about the sport and volunteer their time to help the club in various ways, some going on to serve on our board of directors.  When we have enough participants, we are able to book "private" ice for our skaters on a weekly basis.

Studies have shown that children who skate get better grades (and seem not to have acne -- is it the cooler, damper air in an ice rink?).

As a member of our club, you have sport accident insurance through U.S. Figure Skating.  Even the best skaters sometimes find themselves on the ice unexpectedly (if you know what I mean), and it is reassuring to know that you are covered.  For more information about the insurance, call Wells Fargo Insurance Services at (800) 332-9256, ext. 100.

Transitioning Skaters from Lake City Figure Skating to Spokane FSC

While skaters are in our group lesson program (Snowplow Sam-Basic 6) they are registered as Learn to Skate USA skaters through our LTS program Lake City Figure Skating. LTS skaters currently enroll for a class based on the length of the set (4,6 or 8 weeks). This fee includes their lessons, LTSUSA annual membership, skate rental and practice on Frontier Public Session. Their LTSUSA membership runs July 1-June 30th. With this membership they represent Lake City Figure Skating at any competitive event and may skate on Spokane FSC freestyle sessions for $10 until they pass Basic 6. If a skater either graduates group lessons (passes Basic 6) or chooses to no longer participate in group lessons mid-season they remain Lake City Figure Skating member with LTSUSA until June 30th.

On July 1, after a skater either graduates Basic 6 or leaves group lessons they must join Spokane FSC. If this is their first time joining a US Figure Skating member club they are eligible to pay the Introductory Member Fee of $40 for their first year. Each additional year they will pay the club’s annual membership fee for the skater’s respective category. These skaters may test and compete on behalf of the Spokane FSC. Spokane FSC members will also pay $10 for freestyle sessions.

Skating on Freestyle Ice:

Lake City Figure Skating & Spokane FSC member skaters are eligible to skate on freestyle session for only $10. All other skaters must pay the drop-in fee of $13/session. Spokane FSC also offers a monthly pass for $115, which allows skaters unlimited access to every club sponsored freestyle each month. Skaters are required to sign in in the freestyle book prior to every session and make sure payment is secured before taking the ice. This includes Bridge Skaters and Private Lessons Performance Package skaters. Parents are not to approach the ice nor communicate with skaters unless an emergency arises or a coaches calls the parent out to the ice. Freestyle admission is waived for full-time coaches on sessions when they are coaching or improving personal skating skills, and for Junior/Intern coaches on sessions when they are being mentored.

Lessons on Freestyle Ice:

Coaches may divide their lesson time each session however they would like. Currently our sessions are 60 minutes long. We ask coaches to stand to the side when stationary coaching. Spins should be worked on in the middle of the ice with jumps on the ends or corners. Coaches should bring their own speakers for program choreography as using the sound system for choreography is not allowed. Please respect other coaches and skaters using the sound system and play your speaker at a volume that doesn’t compete with programs playing on the sound system. Programs may be played two times per hour over the sound system. Additional times may occur if there is no line.

Membership Policy

Click here to read our "Membership Policy," which explains the transition from our Learn to Skate USA program to membership in Spokane FSC.  It also explains our policy for who can skate on our club ice and the fee for doing so, as well as information for coaches who would like to teach at our home ice.  Please contact one of our club officers, if you should have a question about the policy.
